A child has died following a collision with a vehicle at a campsite in the Helston area of Cornwall, police said.
The tragedy took place at campsite in Cornwall in the Helson area on the Lizard Peninsula on Wednesday May 12.
Devon and Cornwall Police said officers and emergency services were called to the site at around 12.50pm following reports of a collision.
The force said the individual involved in the crash had been a child and they had sadly been pronounced dead at the scene.
It is not yet known how old the child was, but police said their next-of-kin have been informed and are being support by "specially-trained" officers.
Cornwall Air Ambulance also attended the crash, but was not used, CornwallLive reported.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police and paramedics were called to a campsite in the Helston area following a report of a collision between a vehicle and a child at around 12.50pm on Wednesday 12 May.
"The air ambulance also attended the incident.
"Tragically, the child was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her next-of-kin have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers.
"Officers from the Roads Policing Team are currently in attendance and conducting an examination of the scene."
Police released a statement after part of the A3083 was blocked.
Road and traffic monitoring service Inrix reported: "A3083 partially blocked, heavy traffic due to accident, a car and pedestrian involved at the Cadgwith Turn-Off.
"Affecting traffic between Lizard and Helston."
