Fuming reviews Toby Carvery branch in Oldham, Greater Manchester, have left the restaurant fending off hundreds of Tripadvisor submissions slating the premises, with one complaining of "water gravy".

High praise for the restaurant included "disgusting service" and "livid" family outings where customers waited for food that was "burnt to a crisp" and drinks that "had a funny taste".

The less-than stellar reviews hit their peak with one user writing that the mashed potato was so lumpy it could have been a "poem in braille".

User j0m065 spoke of the horror food on offer, writing that the "dried up overcooked chicken pieces" was the only alternative to the lack of turkey.

Of the vegetables, the user added: "We moved on to the vegetables that looked as though they had been there all day as they were grey looking, and unloved.

"The mash had so many lumps it could have been a poem in braille for all I knew."

Another reviewer wrote that the restaurant is "actually entertaining to watch" and said "what a show" it was, adding that "staff clearly on minimum wage cause less than minimal effort".

They continued: "Head office of this carvery should be very concerned about this venue."

Their review received a reply from the general manager, who said "head office doesn't need to be concerned as we all make mistakes".

A reviewer from The Mirror headed to the restaurant, where they described the food as "sadly disappointing".
