Woman ‘stabs her own pit bull to death’ after it savages golden retriever

A woman stabbed her own dog multiple times after it started attacking a golden retriever.

The pit bull was later euthanised after being taken from the property on Oakland Boulevard in the city of Cambridge, Massachusetts, the US.

Officers raced to the scene at 6.03pm local time on Saturday, November 7, to reports a dog had been stabbed to death.

The resident – who suffered scratches to her legs – told them her pit bull had attacked her other dog, a golden retriever-pit bull mix, The Daily Jeffersonian reports.

She said the cross-breed had sustained injuries, but that she would have to wait until the following day to take it to the vet.

The officers found a large amount of rubbish in the property and reportedly gagged due to the smell.

They found six cats hiding in the clutter and the pit bull suffering from multiple wounds.

It was later put down at a vet clinic on East Wheeling Avenue.

Police said the home posed a "significant danger to the occupants and neighbours," with an investigation underway.

Last week, a dog tragically died after he was "gang-raped" by several people in an abhorrent bestiality attack that left him with 30 stab wounds.

Distressing footage showed the bleeding dog struggling to move on the streets of Bogota, Colombia on November 1.

Helpers put a lead on the pooch and place a sack under its bleeding body.

After the video ended, the group took the dog to the vets in the bag due to its weakened state.

Marta Buitrago, the resident who took the dog to the vet, told the newspaper El Tiempo that the dog appeared injured and very weak when she found her.

Images and videos were shared on Facebook by Liliana Guerrero who said that the dog "was stabbed many times and sexually abused by several people".

She added: "Because she wouldn’t allow it, they stabbed her."
