Smooth criminal named Michael Jackson on the run after escaping from UK prison

Two convicted criminals are on the run after escaping from HMP Sudbury in Uttoxeter, near the Staffordshire border, on Thursday, February 18 at around 8.30 in the evening.

Jackson was serving a sentence of four years and four months for breaching bail conditions around drug and motoring offences in 2019.

Rigby was sentenced to seven years at Bolton Crown Court for robbery in 2018.

Both men are aged 38, white, and medium height, StokeonTrentLive reports.

Police officers have issued an appeal for information and urged the public and their families not to approach the men if they see them.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Derbyshire Police said: "Jackson is described as white, 5ft 8ins tall and of medium build, with brown hair and blue eyes. He has tattoos on both arms, including a full sleeve on his left arm.

"Rigby is white, 5ft 7ins tall and of medium build, he has brown hair and blue eyes.

"Jackson has links to South Normanton and Blackburn in Lancashire, and Rigby has links to Bolton, Lancashire.

"If you have seen either of the men or know of their whereabouts, please do not approach them."

Anyone who sees the men has been urged to contact Derbyshire Police on Facebook, Twitter, or by calling 101 quoting incident 1032 of February 18.
