Sex offender jailed for setting vicious Rottweiler on teenage girls in street

A sex offender from Perth in Scotland has been sentenced to go to prison for three months after he set his pet Rottweiler on two teenage girls in a city street last year.

But this is not the only prison sentence he will be serving.

Martin Reeves, aged 33, will be completing the jail term at the same time as a 74-week sentence he was handed by the court just last week, after he had sex twice with a vulnerable 15-year-old schoolgirl at his flat in the same city, reports The Daily Record.

Reeves was found guilty during a trial after he assaulted the youngsters – aged just 14 and 15 – by inciting his dog multiple times to "menace, attack, injure and pursue" them in Balhousie Street in Perth on 16 June 2020.

The court also heard that the sex offender gave his dog "instructions" to chase and catch up with the teenagers during the horrific incident.

Sheriff Neil Bowie, who heard the trial, did not hesitate to tell Reeves about the impact his crime had on the teenage girls.

He told the defendant: “Whilst this wasn’t the worst offence of its kind, it caused upset to those two girls who ran across the road without looking.”

Because Reeves had received a “substantial sentence” the previous week for the incidents in which he had sex with the other teenager last year, Sheriff Bowie ordered that the three months be served concurrently with that jail term.
