Her Majesty the Queen has to obey certain rules when it comes to expressing her own political opinions.

But she’s very fond of making little coded hints about her feelings.

In her first face-to face meeting with a foreign head of state since President Biden was received at Buckingham Palace, Her Majesty chatted with Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Her Majesty is also Canada’s head of state, and has maintained friendly relations with the country’s political leaders throughout her 70-year reign.

But for Mr Trudeau’s visit, there was some special set dressing in Windsor Castle’s Oak Room that appeared to be a comment on current news events.

Behind the Queen and the Canadian PM there was a prominently-displayed blue-and-yellow spray of flowers.

While the echoes of Ukraine’s flag could be completely coincidental, royal watchers say that’s unlikely.

One senior royal source told The Sun "very little tends to be an accident” when it comes to Her Majesty.

She is already believed to have made an undisclosed contribution to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal to help Ukrainians in their time of need.

Asked for details on her donation, Buckingham Palace said it was a private matter and declined to comment further.

Her Majesty appears to have bounced back well from her bout of Covid earlier this year.

A source close to the Royal Family said at the time that the Queen's Covid diagnosis "terrified" the Royals and left many prominent family members "holding their breath".

The virus had reportedly infected a sizeable number of total staff, and both Price Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall have also been affected.

Known for her lifelong rude health, The Queen was recently pictured standing holding a walking stick and remarked during an in-person audience: “Well, as you can see, I can’t move.”

Her Majesty, who will celebrate her 96th birthday on April 21, is tested regularly by royal doctors.
