Pop Smoke’s murder investigated as gang hit as rapper boasted about being a Crip

Police are investigating the shocking murder of American rapper Pop Smoke as a gang-related attack, sources say.

The 21-year-old artist was shot dead at a home in Hollywood Hills at 4.30am on Wednesday and reportedly identified himself as a member of the infamous Crips.

Pop Smoke’s slaying was initially thought to be a botched home invasion robbery because it came hours after he shared clips of high-value items on Instagram.

One of the clips featured his exact address, which is believed to of been renting from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Teddi Mellencamp and her husband.

Authorities are now believed to be treating the murder as a targeted hit based on surveillance video from the property.

Insiders who have seen the CCTV footage told TMZ four men can be seen approaching the property ten minutes after people inside attempts to secure the front door.

One of the suspects apparently walked to the back of the house, where there were no cameras, and entered before multiple shots were fired.

TMZ said that a suspect, presumed to be the shooter, then fled through the front door with nothing in his hand.

Police arrived at the £2.5million home within minutes of receiving reports of gunfire at the property.
