Meghan Markle is under 'immense pressure' to make her streaming deals a success after Kate Middleton appeared alone on the front page of a major US magazine, a royal writer claims.
The Duchess of Cambridge becoming People magazine's front page will be unnerving for Meghan, as according to expert Daniela Elser, it proves she has not stolen the hearts of America.
Meghan meanwhile has struggled to reel in fanfare across the pond, a poll finding 31% of Americans have no sympathy for the Sussexes suggests, as does the lack of support for her political campaigning.
Writing for News.com.au, Ms Elser says Kate has beaten Meghan to bagging solo magazine front cover status without even leaving the UK, which piles on the pressure for her media deals to boom.
It is the fourth time People has used Kate to sell copies over the past year and the second of her without Prince William, yet there's still been no solo appearance for Meghan.
Ms Elser wrote: "Having spent the last couple of months trying to push for paid parental leave, there does not appear to be anything even vaguely resembling a groundswell of support behind the Duchess."
However the famous magazine cover Meghan did star in with Prince Harry was mocked by the royal columnist.

Ms Elser continued: "Their excruciatingly cringey Time cover and their faux-royal tour of New York would seem to have failed to truly establish the duo as the power players they seem to achingly hungry to be, (though the magazine outing did spawn a tranche of less-than-flattering memes)."
To rival the Sussexes' presence in the US even further, the Duke of Cambridge’s Earthshot Prize will be held there next year which could also mean a royal tour will follow.
According to Vanity Fair a source close to the couple said: "Team Cambridge is very focused on America and making sure they have a high profile over there. The possibility of them making a high profile visit is very much on the cards for next year."

The prospect of William and Kate touring America on the back of multiple glossy magazine front cover appearances, will not thrill Meghan too much, Ms Elser claims.
She added: "The pressure on the couple’s Netflix and Spotify offerings, when the world finally gets to see and hear them, to perform will be immense – but given their shaky public standing, will their famous names translate to the huge streaming figures many might have once assumed?
"(So far they have announced they are making a children’s cartoon and a documentary about Harry’s Invictus Games, two projects that are notable only for their lack of creative verve.)"
The Daily Star has approached Meghan Markle's representatives for comment.
