Meghan Markle and Prince Harry ‘eyeing move to $7million mansion in Malibu’

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are reportedly eyeing a move to a $7million mansion in Malibu as they will official leave the Royal family next month.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are reportedly considering moving to the beachside city in California as they shift their lives out of Britain to North America.

Meghan and Harry are said to be checking out a $7million mansion that comes with a pool, tennis court and five bedrooms.

It means the couple’s new neighbours could be Hollywood a-listers such as Mel Gibson, Robert Downey Jr and Caitlyn Jenner, reports The Sun.

Caitlyn first broke the news the couple were considering the move when she appeared on Loose Women.

She said: “I heard they were looking for a house in Malibu. It must have been tough. Everyone deserves to be happy.”

Harry and Meghan are due to make their official royal exit on March 31.

The couple are expected to complete their final duties on March 9 – and their Buckingham Palace operation will end on April 1.

Talks involving the Queen and senior officials are ongoing about the couple's use of the Sussex Royal Brand as they prepare to start their new life outside royal duties, the Daily Mail reported.

Harry and Meghan's popular Instagram account uses the name Sussex Royal, as does a website set up by the couple after their decision to quit the monarchy in favour of financial freedom.

A royal source said the future use of the term by Harry and Meghan "needed to be reviewed" and that discussions were ongoing.

"As the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are stepping back as senior members of the royal family and will work towards financial independence, use of the word 'royal', in this context, needed to be reviewed," the source said.

The Sussexes are living in Canada with their baby son Archie Mountbatten-Windsor as they prepare to drop their HRH styles and quit the monarchy.

Buckingham Palace said their new life away from royal duties would begin in the spring of this year.

Harry and Meghan first used the Sussex Royal name when they created their own household, following a split from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Kensington Palace.

It is understood that while details of the Buckingham Palace office closure are still being finalised, and despite efforts to redeploy people to other jobs, there will be redundancies.

The job losses could number 15 and staff were notified last month.

They had initially hoped for a dual role, supporting the Queen, the Commonwealth and Harry's military associations, but the idea was deemed unworkable.

Staff affected are reported to include Marnie Gaffney, who was made a member of the Royal Victoria Order in the 2019 Queen's Birthday Honours in her role as assistant communications secretary.

Others named by the Daily Mail are Sara Latham, a former senior adviser on Hillary Clinton's 2016 US presidential campaign, and Julie Burley, who had worked as a senior communications officer with Harry before he was married.

Both Ms Gaffney and Ms Burley were part of the team who took part in the couple's Africa tour last autumn and have spent a number of years serving the royal family in the press office.

Ms Latham was appointed to the role of head of communications when Harry and Meghan's household split from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge last year.

She handled press around Archie's birth and the ITV documentary in which the couple spoke about the pressures of royal life.

The Sussexes reportedly increased security at their rented mansion in North Saanich, Vancouver Island, earlier this month.
