Man ‘shouts Allahu Akbar and threatens to detonate explosives’ near Eiffel Tower

A man has threatened to detonate a bomb near the Eiffel Tower, foreign media reports.

The Parisian monument has been evacuated and the sealed off as police carry out an investigation.

A Valeurs journalist claimed the suspect yelled Allahu Akbar and said he would "blow everything up".

Footage shows armed officers at the scene, with traffic being diverted.

Emergency services were called this morning and have since surrounded the area.

Police are urging people to stay away.

The landmark was closed for three months France's coronavirus lockdown, before reopening in June.
