A man wanted for robbery in Paraguay was shot dead alongside his girlfriend by a Brazilian gang who left a hand-written note near their bodies that read: “Please do not steal”.
Luis Martínez was out celebrating his girlfriend Anabel Centurión's 22nd birthday when gunmen entered the La Choperia bar in the Paraguayan border town of Pedro Juan Caballero, across from Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil on Monday night.
Amambay Police chief Hugo Díaz told Radio Uno 650 AM that the attackers opened fire on the couple, with Anabel attempting to protect her boyfriend from the gunfire.
Luis was shot at least 36 times and was pronounced dead at the scene, while Anabel was taken to a nearby hospital but died after arriving.

At least two other people who were sitting beside the birthday dinner table of nine were shot, but their injuries were not considered life-threatening.
The gang reportedly left a note near the bodies that read: “Please do not steal: ATT: Justiceiros da Fronteira.”
Díaz said: “'[Martínez] was partaking with his girlfriend Anabel, her sister and other family members…
“At the moment of the shooting, Anabel hugs her partner and is shot, which ends her life.’
“The assailants left a handwritten note, which was attributed to a gang known as the 'Justiceiros da Fronteira' [Justices of the Border] which happens to be based out of Brazil.”

While it is unknown whether Luis was directly linked the the gang, they reportedly posted a photo of the coupe on a Facebook page hours before the shooting and threatened to take action.
The post claimed: “this guy steals (phones). Let's crack and cut his hands everyday (for the robberies).”
Díaz said investigators were checking security cameras from nearby business to try and identify the shooters.
Police investigator Aníbal Franco told reporters that the assassination was carried out by "two or three people who were traveling in a gray car.”

Hours before the shooting, Luis posted a sweet photo of himself and Anabel and wished her a happy birthday.
He penned: “My love, today you complete another year of life and I thank God for that, just like every day I thank you for putting you in my life, and being able to share life by your side. Happy birthday.
“That at the end of this day you feel your heart snuggled and filled with love, affection and lots of joy. I will do everything to make it so, not just today, but every day of our life.
“Congratulations my love! May God protect us and grant us many years of life. I love you!”
