A man was rushed to hospital after being struck with a hammer following a fight 'in front of a children' at a department store.
Medics and police were called to The Range at Longacres Industrial Estate in Willenhall near Walsall, the West Midlands, just before 2pm on Sunday afternoon.
The victim, in his 30s, was transferred to hospital for further treatment although the extent of his injuries remains unclear.
A hammer has been recovered for forensic examination and CCTV enquiries continue, a spokesman for West Midlands Police said.
An eyewitness said the busy store was evacuated following the drama, which sparked panic among onlookers.
The eyewitness said: "It was horrific. The man was struck across the head in front of children.
"The whole place was evacuated and police and ambulance staff ran in to help him.
"I hope he is ok."
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We were called to The Range, at Longacres, Willenhall, shortly before 2pm on October 11 following reports a man was hit with a hammer during a fight.

"A man in his 30s suffered a head injury and has been taken to hospital.
"The extent of his injuries are unclear at this stage.
"A hammer has been recovered for forensic examination and CCTV enquiries are ongoing."
