Man arrested as suspect in double shooting in NE Denver that killed a juvenile

A Denver man has been arrested in connection with a double shooting in which one person, a juvenile, died.

The shooting happened about 1:40 a.m. Thursday in the 14500 block of East 51st Place, according to Denver police.

Desmond Manning, 46, has been arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder, police said.

Suspects fleeing a burglary in a neighboring residence entered Manning’s yard and he fired multiple shots at the pair, striking both, police said.

Both gunshot victims, a man and a juvenile male, were taken to a hospital where the juvenile was pronounced dead. In the initial burglary, the man who was shot has been arrested, along with two juvenile suspects, police said.

An investigation is ongoing.
