Donald Trump has been warned his own party could throw him under the bus before the US election is even over. Former White House Director of Communications and now outspoken Trump critic, Anthony Scaramucci, revealed his prediction to BBC Radio 4 regarding the Republican Party’s next move. This comes after President Trump made inflammatory and unfounded suggestions of voter fraud.
Mr Scaramucci said: “His game plan is to go to war, and litigate in two states if they don’t go his way. That’s what he’s going to do and it will be up to the Republican leadership.
“Here’s a prediction I’ll boldly make: Mitch McConnell has got everything he wants from Donald Trump.
“He’s got three Supreme Court justices, 400 judicial appointments.
“They think he’s a lunatic, everyone thinks he’s a lunatic. They will dispatch Trump now, so I think President Trump is in for a rude awakening.”
Mitch McConnell, the newly re-elected Republican leader in the Senate, told a news conference in Kentucky that he was unconcerned by President Trump preempting the vote count to claim victory or threatening to take the election fight to the Supreme Court.
He said: “Going to court is the way we resolve uncertainty in our country.
“So no, I’m not troubled at all by the President suggesting that because the other side’s already doing it too.
“You can anticipate, in close elections, both sides will be lawyered up and will end up in court. It’s happened over and over and over again, nothing unusual.”
However, Mr Scaramucci warned that this response was merely part of the President’s “rude awakening”.
He told Radio 4: “I’ve known Mitch a long time, I’ve been a supporter of his, he’s been in my office many times.
“I saw him basically saying, ‘yes, you can’t declare victory until all the votes are counted’.”

The American financier added: “‘You may think you’ve won, but you can’t declare victory’. That’s what I heard him say.
“So I think the President is going to be in for a rude awakening here.
“They’re not going to demolish the institutions of the American democracy for President Trump.”
Mr Biden’s campaign says it will fight any efforts by the President to go to the Supreme Court to prevent ballots from being tabulated.
A statement from Biden’s campaign manager, Jen O’Malley Dillon warned their “legal teams [are] standing by ready to deploy to resist that effort” and “they will prevail”.
