Detectives have issued an urgent appeal to find a man after the murder of schoolgirl Lilia Valutyte.

Lincolnshire Police have released CCTV images of a man the force is keen to locate after the nine-year-old was stabbed in Boston, Lincolnshire on Thursday.

Officers have warned the public not to approach the man and to immediately call 999 if he is seen.

Chief Superintendent Martyn Parker said: “Our officers have been working round the clock on this investigation, and the public’s help may prove crucial.

“These are very clear images of a man we want to speak to, so I’d urge anyone with information to get in touch with us. If you see him, do not approach him but immediately call 999.

“This is a particularly tragic case and I’d like to reassure the public that we have a huge amount of resources dedicated to the investigation.

“We continue to provide support to the family of Lilia, as they grieve following this unimaginable loss.”

Police have urged members of the public not to approach the man captured in the pictures if they see him, but instead to call 999 quoting Incident 419 of 28 July.

Those who have information that might be useful to the investigation have also been asked to provide it via Lincolnshire Police's dedicated Major Incident Portal or by calling 101.

Lilia was stabbed outside a cafe where her mother was reportedly working while playing with her five-year-old sister.

The unfortunate incident reportedly happened at around 6:20pm on Thursday (28 July), and police have reportedly arrested two people in connection to the stabbing.

They have also raided a house in Boston, Lincolnshire, where Lilia was knifed.
