Lad accused of posing as Everton player before ‘nicking £24k Mini on test drive’

A man allegedly told a BMW car dealership he was on loan to Everton Football Club before stealing a Mini Cooper Sport during a test drive.

Todd Jordan Baston, 23, is alleged to have concocted the story to steal the car – worth £24,000 – telling the dealership on Merseyside he had left the Mini in a car park, but when they arrived the vehicle had vanished.

Baston appeared at Sefton Magistrates' Court yesterday morning where he denied two charges put to him, reports the Liverpool Echo.

The accused was represented by Patrick O'Hanlon, who agreed the matter would be sent to the crown court.

Baston, of Birmingham, was released on conditional bail until that date.
