The video, uploaded on Wednesday, shows the imagined killing of the former US president during a round of golf after Iranian military officials zone in on him with surveillance gear. The video’s release comes at a particularly tense moment in negotiations around the Iran nuclear deal.
It marks the anniversary of the assassination of Iranian military commander, General Qassem Soleimani, in January 2020.
He was killed after an American drone strike operations in Baghdad.
The video is provocatively titled, ‘Revenge is inevitable’.
Iran announced sanctions last week against Donald Trump and tens of dozens of US officials allegedly involved in Soleimani.
There are a number of other sanctions in place against top-ranking US officials, such as Mark Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Reacting to the sanctions on Sunday, US national security adviser Jake Sullivan said the US would collaborate with other nations to push back against aggression from Iran.
He said: “We will work with our allies and partners to deter and respond to any attacks carried out by Iran.”
He added: “Should Iran attack any of our nationals, including any of the 52 people named yesterday, it will face severe consequences.”
The video lasts for around two minutes, and was the winning entry of a competition calling for submissions for honouring the former military commander Soleimani.
It is believed Soleimani was a personal acquaintance of the Ayatollah.
A figure bearing a striking resemblance to Donald Trump opens the clip by playing golf in a resort much like his Florida complex, Mar-a-Lago.
A drone operator then sets to work on a computer, with a portrait of Soleimani at the console.

He then visibly sends a message committing to revenge, with weaponry locking onto the figure meant to be Donald Trump as he gears up to swing his golf club.
The video ends before the missile, which has locked onto the former president’s figure, is released.
The parting message of the video reads: “Revenge is definite.”
It followed a similar poster released last year, demanding revenge for General Soleimani’s death with Trump relaxing on a golf course.
It has been widely considered an inflammatory act as the US and Iran struggle to forge ahead with efforts to reinstate the 2015 Iran nuclear deal.
On the same day that Iran announced the sanctions on the American citizens, Ali Bagheri Kani, one of Iran’s top nuclear negotiators, told the official news agency IRNA that talks were progressing and differences were being worked through.
While in office, Donald Trump withdrew from the nuclear deal and imposed sanctions on Iran.
He hoped to leverage Iran into a more comprehensive military weapons deal.
