Harry and Meghan ‘made Kate and William seem dull’ claims royal insider

Prince Harry's glamorous Hollywood bride, Meghan Markle, made Prince William and Kate Middleton seem "rather dull" in comparison, a royal insider has claimed.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced their engagement in the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace on November 27 2017.

Meghan and Harry welcomed press for a photoshoot which saw the former Suits star flash a sparkly diamond ring while her new fiancé had his arm around her.

Harry and Meghan's relationship quickly gained public interest, leaving the other Royals on the circuit, like the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, in their wake.

Anna Pasternak, author of The Real Wallis Simpson: A New History of the American Divorcee Who Became the Duchess of Windsor, told Vanity Fair, the "electric" couple made "the Cambridges seem dowdy, suburban, and rather doll," which did not "go down well in the palace."

Ms Pasternak said: "Harry and Meghan were suddenly too electric.

"They made the Cambridges seem dowdy, suburban, and rather dull. That does not go down well in the palace."

She went on to say Prince Harry and Prince William's alleged feud reflects that of the late Princess Diana and Prince Charles.

The author said the pair are publicly "playing out" the "dynamic of their parents," with William "very aligned" with his father.

Ms Pasternak said the Duke of Cambridge has Prince Charles ability to put "sense of duty" above "emotion" while Prince Harry is more of a "rebel spirit," the Vanity Fair article claimed.

The wedge between the two has been "fuelled by fury at the tabloid press" on Prince Harry's part, something his late mother, Princess Diana, was open about not liking.

  • Royals would be 'crazy' to talk to Meghan Markle and Harry as 'they'd tell the world'

She said: "William and Harry are playing out the dynamic of their parents.

"William is very aligned with his father in his sense of duty above emotion.

"Harry is fuelled by fury at the tabloid press, blowing up the family’s cone of silence in a blockbuster interview."

The interview Ms Pasternak is referring to is a bombshell interview Prince Harry and Meghan Markle gave to U.S. chat show host Oprah Winfrey.
