Great white shark attacks boat after fisherman sails into feeding frenzy

Heart-stopping footage has captured a great white shark turning on a fishing boat after the vessel had strayed into a feeding frenzy involving dozens of predators.

Dean Buttler was fishing for snapper in waters off the coast of Forster in New South Wales, Australia, when he came across more than a dozen sharks feeding on a whale carcass.

As he approached, one great white and a tiger shark that, he believed, weighed 500kg each veered off and headed directly towards his boat.

Video taken by Dean shows the creature opening its mouth before trying to take a chunk out of Dean’s propeller.

The two sharks then continue to stalk underneath Dean’s boat for several minutes.

“The only two bites I got all day were of those sharks eating my boat," Dean later told 9News.

“There’s a tooth mark in the propeller. You’d have to try hard to convince someone but that’s what it is.

“I’m glad I found it in the daylight, because you could easily hit that in the dark running — to come out of your boat and be surrounded by those guys would be pretty scary.

“I wasn't concerned, I was just happy to witness it — it was pretty cool."
