Liz Truss will be set ablaze at a legendary British bonfire whilst clutching a lettuce – or at least something that looks a lot like her will be.

Edenbridge Bonfire Society has been poking fun at infamous celebrities for more than 20 years, past targets have included Boris Johnson and Donald Trump.

The former Prime Minister of the UK, who was infamously outlasted by the Daily Star's wet lettuce, has seen herself erected as the latest target.

Alongside the laughing lettuce, a miserable Truss is seen with a Guinness World Record book, a mini-budget stuffed in a leaving box, and Larry the cat at her ankles.

The huge bonfire will see Liz Truss set alight before a fireworks finale lights up the skies.

More comical effigies who have gone up in flames in Kent include Katie Price in 2019 and Wayne Rooney whose ears in 2011 looked like they were cruelly borrowed from Shrek.

The England legend is not the only footballer to have been the star of Edenbridge's annual festivities as former Manchester City striker, Mario Balotelli started the trend a year earlier.

Beside his character is a sign asking 'How safe are your fireworks tonight?'.

Throw into the mix disgraced ex-FIFA boss Sepp Blatter, Harvey Weinstein and oddly enough Anne Robinson, and it's fair to say the bonfire has touched all corners of popular culture since its 1994 inception.

The eccentric Italian's blunder of setting fireworks off in his own home, no doubt inspired his inclusion as a Guy Fawkes substitute.
