A female police officer is reported to have died after being stabbed at a police station.
The horrifying incident took place at around 2.20pm on Friday, April 23, in the town of Rambouillet, which is 35 miles southwest of Paris, France.
BFM TV and Europe 1 report that the victim, who is reported to have been 49, subsequently died of her injuries after going into cardiac arrest despite the intervention of firefighters.
Confirming an incident had taken place, French interior minister Gerald Darmanin tweeted: "A police officer was the victim of a knife attack at the Rambouillet police station, where I am going."
France Prime Minister Jean Castex is also reported to be on his way to the scene.
The attacker is believed to have been shot and killed following the incident.
