A daredevil builder who jumped off a bridge into a river to cool off narrowly avoided death after breaking his neck in three places.
Eman Vaskevicius, 28, was with friends at Stamford Meadows, in Lincolnshire, when the hot weather saw him make the decision to take the plunge into the River Welland.
But the construction worker hadn’t realised the water level was so low and needed a six hour operation to save his life after being left with significant head injuries following the horrific accident two weeks ago.

Eman broke his neck in three places and remains in hospital unable to move his legs because of the damage to his nerves.
His dad Linvydas Vaskevicius, has now issued a warning to other young people and said: “Eman remembers jumping from the bridge but nothing else until two days later.
“He has said ‘never again’.
“This could happen to any other guy. Eman made a mistake but hopefully other people will learn from it so that no one else has an accident like this.”
Eman remains in hospital in Cambridge and is now able to speak and eat but faces a long road to recovery.
His work colleagues have since set up a fundraising page to support his rehabilitation, which has currently raised over £2,000.
Linvydas added: “The doctors are happy with the surgery but now all we can do it wait.
“Eman is feeling positive and hasn’t given up.
“It was nice of his friends to set up the fundraising page to help cover his bills while he cannot work.”
Eman, who lives with his family in Greetham, Rutland moved to the UK from Lithuania in 2003.
His friend Ryan Mohammed set up the GoFundMe page and wrote: "I'm trying to raise funds to help a lad that works with us and I've know since he was 7 years old.
"Eman originally moved to the UK with his family back in early 2000s he’s worked with us for the last 10 years and is now 28 years old .
"While out with friends on Saturday he was participating in summer water fun and jumped off a low level bridge into a river.
"Unfortunately that river was very low and Eman sustained serious head and neck injuries and has spent 6 hr in surgery to save his life."
Ryan added: "He’s in hospital and is now breathing on his own and recovering but it will be a long road to recovery and a long time before he can go back to work.
"Now we all know we have bills to pay still and if we can help him keep his finances covered whiles he’s off work by supporting him with as much or as little as we can afford it would mean a lot to him and his family."
A GoFundMe has been set up to allow people to make donations.
