Dad watches in horror as ‘dozens of deadly spiders burst out of bananas’

A terrified dad has claimed he found dozens of the 'world's deadliest spiders' burst out from the peel of a bunch of bananas.

The father-of-two was eating the banana, which he allegedly bought from Lidl when he noticed a lump in the skin.

Nick Southam, 48, only checked after he finished it when he cut open the lump.

This is when he came to the horrific discovery, a number of spiders lay inside the banana skin that he bought from the supermarket in Droitwich Spa, Worcestershire, on March 2.

Later he discovered the spiders were the world's most dangerous.

He said: "I cut the lump open after finishing it, and tiny spiders came out.

“It had small eggs on the side of the banana. They were dozens of the tiny things but I didn't know where they came from.

“They were not very active and they would not survive well in our climate.

"There were only a few alive ones as most of the spiders were dead."

Nick said: "It was only after I realised when I researched 'spider in banana' that this has happened before.

There have been a number of terrifying spider discoveries from supermarket bananas in the past.

A couple of years ago 52-year-old Neil Langley discovered the same spiders in his bananas allegedly bought from Asda.

A spokeswoman from Lidl confirmed the supermarket was investigating the incident.

She said: "We were very sorry to hear of this.

"At Lidl, we work very closely with our suppliers, both in the UK and abroad, to ensure that the fresh fruit and vegetables in our stores are of the highest possible quality for our customers.

"We would therefore advise the customer to get in touch with our customer services team so that this can be looked into for them."
