Coronavirus shock: Trump’s scientific advisor warns ‘don’t touch ANY surface’ outside home

Coronavirus has spread to all 50 states in the US and has resulted in mass panic from its citizens. Donald Trump addressed the coronavirus health issue with scientific advisor Deborah Birx during a briefing on Wednesday. Dr Birx explained the US Government wishes for people to avoid touching hard surfaces as they may harbour the deadly disease.

She added people should avoid social gatherings as people who are asymptomatic may still pass on the virus.

She said: “There is a series of scientific articles published and I know you have seen them too on surface contamination.

“I think none of us really understood the surface issue.

“We are still working out how much is spread by human-human transmission and how many it is by surface.

“This is why those fundamental guidelines were put out that said don’t expose yourself to surfaces outside the home.”

Dr Birx then went into detail on what those guidelines are and why they are crucial to fighting the coronavirus crisis.

She continued: “Basically what those guidelines are is don’t expose yourself to an excess amount of people who could be asymptomatic and infected as there is then the risk of person-person contact.

“And don’t expose yourself to surfaces that could have had the virus on it.

“I know we had the cardboard issue about shipping but it is not shown in fabric as much or in cardboard so focus on hard surface transmission.”

President Trump also attempted to comfort American citizens during this health crisis.

During his speech, he said: “For the people that are now out of work because of the important and necessary containment policies, for instance, the shutting down of hotels, bars and restaurants, money will soon be coming to you.

“The onslaught of the Chinese Virus is not your fault! We will be stronger than ever.

“I always treated the Chinese Virus very seriously and have done a very good job from the beginning.

“This includes my very early decision to close the borders from China, against the wishes of almost all.

“Ultimately many lives were saved.”
