Boy, 12, left abused dog at animal shelter after dad ‘beat’ and ‘kicked’ it

A heartbroken little boy made the difficult decision to abandon their family puppy at a dog shelter because his dad always "beat" and "kicked" it.

Andrés, 12, and his unidentified mum, believed to be from Mexico, left the pup outside an animal shelter hoping for a better life for the dog.

The animal, believed to be a boxer or pitbull, was quickly found by Rous Segura, who discovered the dog inside a cardboard box alongside a tragic letter.

In the letter, the little boy said he had decided to do this “behind his dad’s back” because his dad was “thinking of selling him."

He said his father had once "kicked" the dog "so had that his little tail got injured."

The letter reads: "My name is Andrés and I’m 12 years old.

"My mum and I decided to leave him to you.

"All of this is behind my dad’s back because he was thinking of selling him.
