American fans of the Royal family are being forced to pick sides in light of the recent controversies surrounding the Cambridge's.

The battle has come to a head as both couples are on American soil at the same time, although there are no plans to meet.

It's the first time both couples have been in the US since William's godmother Lady Susan Hussey resigned after asking a black British charity boss where she was "really" from.

The Kennedy family who many would see as America's closest thing to Royal's of their own have seemingly thrown their weight behind either couple as the debate intensifies.

On one side we have Robert F. Kennedy’s daughter, Kerry, who is set to honour Harry and Meghan with the Ripple of Hope Award in New York.

In an interview she leapt to the praise of the Sussexes: “They went to the oldest institution in UK history and told them what they were doing wrong, that they couldn’t have structural racism within the institution.”

But, on the other we have President John F. Kennedy’s grandson, Jack Schlossberg, 29, who teamed up with the Prince and Princess of Wales to honour his grandfather’s legacy with five recipients of the Earthshot Prize at the JFK Library Foundation last night.

The divide in support for the Royals has been seen across the US, but it seems that the split may come down to age, with millennials favouring Harry and Meghan.

New Yorker fashion stylist James Jeffries, 37, is firmly Team Sussex.

"She has raised awareness around what was a very secretive family and, at the same time, been supported by Harry. He has been incredibly courageous in standing up for what is right.”

New Yorker and royal watcher Dee Ashcroft, 47, is in the Team Cambridge camp.

She said: “The Sussexes’ first mistake was disrespecting the Queen, who was and still is deeply loved in the States. The second was the Oprah interview.”
